"We will focus on image-based, narrative motifs to explore the power and versatility
of screen printing on fabric. Techniques range from simple, low-tech stencil-making
methods to more advanced printing such as thermal imaging, photo emulsion, and
structural embellishment. Layering and juxtaposing imagery and text, students will
have the opportunity to work on pictorial compositions, customizing clothing, and/or
printed yardage for future projects.
All skill levels welcome.

July 1-7, 2012Improvisational Design for Wearables, one-week workshop
Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN- contact the school to register 

"Toss those confusing commercial sewing patterns! Using your own favorite clothing
pieces that you already wear and love, make templates to design and create fresh
apparel and accessories. Enhance your original designs with simple screen printing
and embellishment inspired by the weird and wonderful setting of Gatlinburg,
Tennessee.
Emphasis will be placed on working with user-friendly, stretch fabrics that do not
require persnickety sewing details such as darts, zippers, or buttonholes. Class will
culminate in a fun and informal styling session/ photo shoot of wearing (or
displaying) your work on location. All skill levels welcome.
